  • The students of the Department organized & actively participated in “Technovanza 2010” an Inter University Technical Festival on 21st and 22nd April 2010. It saw active participation from colleges like BITS Pilani - Dubai, SKYLINE University , HERIOT WATT University , MURDOCH University , EMIRATES AVIATION College besides MANIPAL University.

  • The 2nd year Students of Engineering - Mr. Pranay (ECE), Mr. Arundeep (MTE), Mr. Samsuddin (MTE), Mr.Nahaad (MTE), Ms. Rachael (ECE) took part in the Common Design Competition-Solar HelioStat held on 8th of May 2010 at the Petroleum Institute – Abu Dhabi held in connection with 5th UAE IEEE Day under the guidance of the Engineering faculty members Dr.S.V.Kota Reddy, Mrs.J.UmaLakshmi, Mr. Suresha & Dr.Suhas. The objective of the project was to successfully design, implement and demonstrate a working prototype of a real time HelioStat which is the basis of most solar power stations. The Engineering students are just in their 2nd year, but they have demonstrated their fine skills during the event and their innovative project design got very good reviews from all.

 

  • Department of Engineering annual Magazine, “360 Degrees” was released on 26th May 2010.
  • On 18th October to mark ASHRAE, Manipal University, Dubai Student Branch inauguration an important occasion, a paper presentation competition entitled “High-Octane” on the topic of “Eco Friendly Power generation” was organized for students. Dr. R. Udaykumar, Professor, BITS, Pilani Dubai was the judge for the competition.  Five teams were participated in the competition. The winners of the competition are as follows.
          1stPrize:

         2nd Prize:
         Abhishek Nevagi   ---- V Sem. Civil Engg.

  • Engineering students have won the following prizes in “JASHN 2010”, an Inter- Collegiate event organized by BITS- Pilani, Dubai between 19th March and 26th March 2010.
    1. Mr. Gokul Sasidharan Warrier (V semester MTE) and group – Eastern Group Singing – 1st Position.
    2. Ms. Radhika Chopra (V semester ECE) and group – Eastern Group Dance – 2nd Position
    3. Mr. Abhishek Navagi (V semester CE) and group – Inter collegiate Quiz Competition – Runners up

  • Mr. Vivek M.S (V semester MTE) won 2 gold medals in both individual Kata and individual Kumite organized by DKF Karate Tournament in May 2010. He was heading the table tennis team (men) of Maniapl University, Dubai and the team won 3rd place in AUS Racket tournament for table tennis in February 2010.

  • Mr. Shaik Abubakkar (V semester ME) represented Manipal University, Dubai cricket team which came runners in Maxtalent Cricket Cup tournament.   
  •  Ms. Nikita Phadke (III semester ECE) represented the table tennis team (women) of Maniapl University, Dubai. The team won the following games in the year 2010.

     

    1. 6th  UOWD University sports festival - Table tennis (women ) - Runner-up
    2. BITS sports festival - Inter university table tennis tournament --  Winners
    3. American University of Sharjah – AUS Racket tournament for table tennis (women ) – Winners
    4. UOWD sports festival - Table tennis (women ) – Winners

  • First year students Mr.Mohammed Ehtesham Adil Afague, Mr. Arif Ali, Mr. Aaquib Ilyas and Mr. Mohammed Anas Khan are representing for the cricket team of Manipal University, Dubai.

  • Mr. Shams (V semester ME) won the following events in the tournament organized by Manipal University at Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai

 

    1. Athletics (100 m)               – 1st Position
    2. Athletics (200 m)               – 1st Position
    3. Athletics (400 m)               – 1st Position
    4. Athletics (Triple Jump)      – 1st Position
    5. Athletics (High Jump)        – 2nd Position
    6. Athletics (Long Jump)        – 2nd Position
    7. Athletics (Discuss throw)   – 2nd Position

     

  • Mr. Vivin Pradeep Oommen (V semester ME) won the following event in the tournament organized by Manipal University at Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai

 

                 1.  Athletics (High Jump)   – 1st Position

  • Mr. Akhil John (V semester ECE) won the following events in the tournament organized by Manipal University at Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai.

       

      1. Athletics (400 m)   – 2nd Position
      2. Athletics (800 m)   – 2nd Position
      3. Athletics (1500 m) – 3rd Position

    • Mr. Naheem T P (V semester MTE) won the following events in the tournament organized by Manipal University at Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai.

       

      1. Athletics (400 m)    – 3rd Position
      2. Athletics (800 m)    – 1st Position
      3. Athletics (1500 m)  – 1st Position

    • Ms. Karishma Kamath (V semester ECE) won the following events in the tournament organized by Manipal University at Higher Colleges of Technology, Dubai.

       

      1. Athletics (100 m)   – 3rd Position
      2. Athletics (200 m)   – 3rd Position
      3. Athletics (400 m)   – 3rd Position

    • Ms. Hiba Nadeem (V semester ECE) and Ms.Vishnu Priya (III semester MTE) presented a dance for the President of India, Smt. Prathiba Patil during her visit to Dubai on 24th November 2010. Mr. Gokul Sasidharan Warrier (V semester MTE) was a part of the choir for singing the Indian National Anthem.

    • Ms. Radhika Chopra (V semester ECE) participated in the Emirates Environment Public Speaking Competition at Knowledge Village, Dubai on 30th November, 2010.The team scored overall second place among the 15 universities from the middle east.
