AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HEATING, REFRIGERATING AND AIR CONDITIONING ENGINEERS (ASHRAE)


American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Manipal University Dubai Student Branch of ASHRAE Falcon Chapter, UAE was inaugurated on 18th October 2010 at Manipal University Dubai campus. To mark this important occasion, a Paper Presentation competition entitled “High-Octane” on the topic of “Eco Friendly Power generation” was organized for students. Dr. R. Udaykumar, Professor, BITS, Pilani Dubai was the judge for the competition.  Five teams were participated in the competition. The winners of the competition are as follows.

1stPrize:

2nd Prize:
Abhishek Nevagi  ---- V Sem. Civil
Amit Kumar         ---- V Sem. Civil


After the competition, the chartering ceremony of ASHRAE Manipal University Student Branch was held. The chief guest for the ceremony was Dr. Victor Goldschmidt, Professor Emeritus, Purdue University, School of Mechanical Engineering, Northport, MI, and ASHRAE member.
Dr. B. Ramjee, Director, Manipal University Dubai, Mr. B.S. Prashanth, President of ASHRAE Falcon Chapter, Mr. Muhammed Ali, Student Activities Chair, ASHRAE Falcon Chapter, Dr. S. V. Kota Reddy, Chairperson, Engineering Department, ASHRAE members, Faculty and staff members and students of Engineering Department were present on the occasion.  Dr. Victor Goldschmidt and Mr. Muhhamed Ali have taken the oath of the following student branch office bearers.

INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERS (IEEE)



The students of ECE and MTE are actively participating in various activities organized by  IEEE Student Branch at Manipal University - Dubai (Branch Code: 03031). 

A student branch would give students the opportunity to meet and learn from fellow students, as well as from faculty members and professionals in the field.


The 2nd year Students of Engineering took part in the Common Design Competition-Solar HelioStat held on 8th of May 2010 at the Petroleum Institute – Abu Dhabi held in connection with 5th UAE IEEE Day. The objective of the project was to successfully design,   implement and demonstrate a working prototype of a real time HelioStat which is the basis of most solar power stations.


IEEE Workshop on “Finite Element Modeling Using COMSOL Multiphysics” was conducted on 21st December, 2011 for the students of Electronics & Communication, Mechatronics, Mechanical and Computer Science Engineering. Mr. Mina Wagih and Mr. Islam Sayed, from the Elnady Engineering, Cairo, Egypt. They have demonstrated the applications of COMSOL Multiphysics software in engineering for modeling, simulation and analysis.


Proposal is being prepared for establishing SAE (Society for Aerospace Engineers) at Manipal Dubai campus for Mechanical and Mechatronics Students.
