Department of Information Technology at Manipal University Dubai put another feather in its cap when recently it got accredited as an ICDL Training and Testing Centre. The Department has successfully acquired the Authorised ICDL Training and Testing Centre status (Centre ID: GCC 630087) with effect from 1st September 2009. The Department is now offering core ECDL/ICDL Training programmes to its students as well as other interested candidates. It is also an authorized testing centre where candidates can register for and give the Online Tests in order to pass the ICDL Certifications. European Computer Driving License (ECDL) is an internationally recognised, vendor-neutral certificate which demonstrates a person’s competence in computing knowledge and skills in accordance with international standards. Outside Europe it is known as International Computer Driving License (ICDL) which in the GCC countries is managed by the Governing body called ICDL GCC Foundation. The ICDL Training and Testing Centre at the Department of Information Technology is staffed with two ICDL certified Testers – Ms. Sophia Rahaman and Mr. Vishwesh Laxmikant Akre and one ICDL Certified Training Professional (CTP) – Mr. Vishwesh Laxmikant Akre.
