OVERVIEW
Full-time 3 year program (6 semesters)
The Department of Arts and Humanities at MAHE, Dubai offers a carefully curated BA (Humanities) program that inculcates varied critical and creative skills across three years (six semesters).
The first two years (four semesters) of the program offer a wide range of Foundation Courses for a strong grounding in fundamental concepts. Students have to complete any four (4) foundation courses (from the courses offered) in each semester (semesters 1, 2, 3 and 4) in the first two years. Foundation Courses are offered from the following disciplines:
- Literature
- Psychology
- Philosophy
- Sociology
- Film Studies
- Gender Studies.
Electives in the final year of the program give students the option of a Major in:
- Psychology
- English
- Sociology
The program culminates with a research project and the writing of a thesis on a topic of your choice, with faculty guidance.
Eligibility
Admission to the this program is open to students who have passed the qualifying 10+2 examination or its equivalent from a recognised board with at least 50% aggregate marks.
Course Completion Criteria
Students must earn a minimum of 120 credits for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities. This must include the final thesis (10 credits) and academic portfolio (5 credits)
Foundation Courses: Students have to complete four (4) foundation courses in each semester (semesters 1, 2, 3 and 4) in the first two years. By the end of the second year, a student is expected to complete a total of 16 foundation courses. (80 credits)
Electives: Electives are offered in the third year (semesters 5 and 6) of the programme. If the student earns 20 out of 25 credits in one of the four disciplines (Psychology, English or Sociology) in the final year, he/she will be awarded a major in that discipline.
