Team Tawazun comprising of MAHE Dubai students and alumni, is participating in the Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME 2021), an international competition organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The team will be competing against 7 teams from various countries. The 2nd Edition is a Special Expo 2020 Edition, held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, in partnership between DEWA, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and the US Department of Energy.


The 80-member MAHE Dubai Team Tawazun comprising of students and alumni from all disciplines was born out of the concept of balance, the balance between traditional Emirati and contemporary design. The net-zero house will be built at Mohammed Solar Park, Dubai from 23rd October to 9th November 2021 and will demonstrate sustainable construction practices, energy monitoring and control, innovative lighting design, air quality monitoring and smart mirrors for happiness and wellbeing. The house is designed for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and WELL Building Standard, in compliance with Al Sa’fat.


Team Tawazun will receive a minimum of AED 500,000 as prize money and additionally has support of AED 300,000 for research and innovation from over 25 industry partners for equipment, appliances, devices and systems.


The Team is led by Dr Ravishankar Dudhe (SoEIT), Dr Bhakti More (SoDA), Mr Deep Aranha (SoDA) & Mr Abdul Razzak Sohail (Career Services).
