School of Humanities and Social Sciences students win at EEG Inter College Public Speaking Competition When: — Where: Category:

We are happy to inform that our students from third year BA Humanities, School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SOHSS) have won the prestigious 21st Inter-College Environmental Public Speaking Competition organized by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG). The competition was held at Dubai Knowledge Park on the 23 & 24 November 2021. Our team competed with 22 prestigious universities in the category – Sustainable Living: A Path for a Greener Future.

 

Apart from this, the team also won the Third Place overall amongst 73 local and international teams from 10 different countries.

 

The Inter-College Environmental Public Speaking Competition yearly held under the patronage of H.E Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education was initiated for the first time in 2001, and the participation was expanded in 2006 to include universities and colleges from the GCC, and in 2012 it was open to all the Arab countries. Since then the competition has proven to be highly popular across the UAE, GCC and MENA regions and this year saw participation from outside the Arab region from Europe and Central Asia. It further aims to ensure future sustainability of environmental resources by bringing a positive change in the attitudes of the young people of our societies and establish an environment conscious generation.

·         Ayman Sayed Salim – 3rd Year, BA Humanities

·         Juvariya Samar – 3rd Year, BA Humanities

·         Rumana Habib – 3rd Year, BA Humanities

·         Saba Abdul Wahid – 3rd Year, BA Humanities
