Manipal Dubai organized the Orientation Program for it’s new under-graduate students from the 19th to 23rd of September 2021 at the University Campus in the Dubai International Academic City. The week-long event themed as ‘Week of Welcome – Freshmen Orientation 2021’ was held to prepare students to the new academic year and introduce them to various extra-curricular activities and thus equip them to face various challenges which lay ahead as they start their academic life at Manipal Dubai. The academic orientations were held on the first 2 days of the orientation week which was followed by the co-curricular orientations on the next 3 days. During the academic orientation, students were introduced to their teaching faculty, university rules, program regulations, university facilities and how to maximise learnings from the opportunities offered at the campus.
The orientation commenced with a prayer followed by the national anthems of the UAE and India. Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE India, Dr. Narayan Sabahit, Registrar, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India and Dr. Jason Fitzsimmons, the Academic President, Manipal Dubai addressed the student gathering by sharing their words of wisdom and encouragement. The Chairperson’s of each of the 6 schools took stage to introduce themselves, their team members and spoke about the academics of their respective schools. This was followed by an interactive address by the Student Relations Officer who spoke to students on co-curricular activities, including various student clubs and societies and also what to expect during their time at Manipal Dubai. The team extended a warm welcome to students to actively participate in all the events and activities organized at the campus and thus get immersed in the day to day life of Manipal Dubai.
Following the academic orientation on the 19th and 20th September, students had an opportunity to explore their campus, discover various facilities and interact with their faculties, senior students and administration staff. Each of the schools had organized separate informal sessions to help new students familiarize themselves with their respective departments.
During the next 3 days, co-curricular orientations were held to introduce students to the buzzing life of Manipal Dubai. To make the orientation more dynamic and exciting, students were asked to come dressed in different themes on different days. They got a chance to participate in various activities such as indoor sports, cultural events and also had an opportunity to showcase their talents on the last day of the orientation week.
Manipal Dubai extends its sincere thanks to the administration team for organizing the orientation with all the Dubai Health Authority and KHDA stipulated Health and Safety measures in place. We wish all our new students a fruitful academic year.
