Dr. S. Sudhindra, Pro Vice Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai, was interviewed by 24.ae to share his perspectives on the growing importance of digital skills in an AI-driven world.
The interview forms part of a wider discussion on how education systems are responding to rapid changes in technology, digital problem-solving, and the increasing use of artificial intelligence in learning and the workplace. Speaking to 24.ae, Dr. Sudhindra highlighted that access to AI tools alone is not enough. To use AI effectively, students need the ability to ask the right questions, assess the reliability of AI-generated information, protect data and privacy, and understand when human oversight is essential.
He also emphasised that digital literacy goes beyond technical proficiency. Critical thinking, creativity, ethical awareness, information analysis and problem-solving are equally important in helping students become confident and responsible users of AI.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape education and the workplace, Dr. Sudhindra noted that the ability to keep learning and adapting will remain one of the most valuable capabilities for graduates. Preparing students for the future, therefore, requires universities to help them understand not only how to use AI, but also its limitations, implications and the importance of human judgement.
