Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Dubai is proud to announce that a student-led engineering project titled "Six-Seater Electric Golf Cart" has been granted acceptance for an Indian Design Patent, marking a significant achievement in innovation, applied learning, and intellectual property creation.
The project was developed by a team of BTech Mechanical Engineering students as part of their academic learning and innovation activities. Designed as an environmentally friendly and efficient transportation solution, the electric golf cart aims to support sustainable mobility within campus environments and similar enclosed communities.
The student team behind the project includes:
Shuaib Mohamed Akram
Enos Calwin Paul Yasarpu
Aryan Vijayraghavan
Mahesh Thekkath
Konain Ahmed
Abdullah Najib Abdullah Abdo
The innovative design focuses on providing a practical and eco-friendly transportation alternative while demonstrating the application of engineering principles to solve real-world challenges. Through the project, students gained hands-on experience in product design, vehicle engineering, sustainability, and prototype development.
The acceptance of the Indian Design Patent is an important milestone for both the students and MAHE Dubai. It reflects the university's growing emphasis on innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property development. More importantly, it highlights how classroom learning can be transformed into tangible solutions with commercial and societal relevance.
Speaking about the achievement, the university acknowledged the dedication and creativity demonstrated by the student team throughout the project. The recognition serves as an encouragement for students to pursue innovation-driven projects and explore opportunities to convert their ideas into protected intellectual property assets.
The project was completed under the guidance of Dr. Rajiv Selvam, whose mentorship and technical support played a key role in helping the students successfully navigate the design and development process.
At MAHE Dubai, experiential learning forms a core component of the engineering curriculum. Students are encouraged to engage in industry-relevant projects, research initiatives, design challenges, and innovation activities that enhance their technical skills while fostering creativity and problem-solving abilities.
