MAHE Dubai’s ‘Seeding Sustainability’ Project Ranks in Top 20 at UAE’s Sustainable Impact Challenge Dubai

About the Initiative
‘Seeding Sustainability’ is a student-led program designed to educate school children about sustainable living through interactive, gamified learning experiences. Since the 2023–24 academic year, MECS student volunteers have reached 780 students from Grades 3 to 5 across UAE schools, addressing key UN Sustainable Development Goals:
- SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
- SDG 13 – Climate Action
- SDG 14 – Life Below Water
With a special focus on water conservation, the project has encouraged students to become more aware of their water footprint and adopt mindful consumption habits.
Collaboration with Water Alliance
This impactful program has been supported by Water Alliance, a non-governmental organisation committed to advancing sustainable water practices in the UAE. Mentors Linda Merieau, Edurne Gill, and Shamma Al Mulla provided expert guidance throughout the initiative.
AED 20,000 Funding Secured
As part of the recognition, MAHE Dubai will receive AED 20,000 in funding under the Sustainable Impact Challenge Prize. These funds will support the scaling of the project to reach 5,000 students across the UAE, expanding the initiative’s educational impact.
Awards and Global Recognition
The initiative received the CIBSE Award in the University Category: Sustainability Initiative of the Year
It was also shortlisted to present at the UN Youth Conference COY18 during COP28, highlighting the project on an international platform
