MAHE Dubai Student Wins 3rd Place in ASHRAE RAL Student Competition 2025

Aryan participated in the ASHRAE RAL Student Competition 2025, a two-phase contest designed to assess knowledge and application of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. He competed among over 50 student members from various ASHRAE chapters across the region and secured third place after a rigorous evaluation process.
The competition was conducted virtually across ASHRAE RAL chapters earlier this year, with final results announced in July 2025. Aryan represented the UAE ASHRAE Falcon Chapter, which included participants from four different universities.
The competition included students from countries across ASHRAE’s Region-at-Large, which encompasses areas outside North America, including the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and parts of Europe and Asia. Aryan was guided by Dr. Sampath Suranjan, faculty advisor for the MAHE Dubai ASHRAE Student Branch.
This recognition highlights MAHE Dubai’s continued commitment to engineering excellence and student development. Aryan’s achievement demonstrates the high level of technical training and academic mentorship provided at the university.
The contest featured two phases:
A challenging HVAC quiz in the first round to shortlist top candidates
A 20-minute technical interview in the second phase to assess in-depth HVAC understanding
Aryan’s performance earned him a cash prize of USD 600 (AED 2,200) and the opportunity to attend the ASHRAE RAL Chapter Regional Conference (CRC), scheduled to take place in Dubai in October 2025.
MAHE Dubai congratulates Aryan for his outstanding performance and extends gratitude to Dr. Sampath Suranjan for his continued support in enabling student participation in global platforms like ASHRAE.
