Students from MAHE Dubai’s School of Engineering & IT (SOEIT) and School of Design & Architecture (SODA) have secured First Place at the IStructE Skyward Design Challenge, hosted by the Institution of Structural Engineers (UAE Chapter). The team won a cash award of AED 2,000, along with trophies and certificates.
About the challenge:
The competition required participants to design a five-storey vertical extension to an existing building without any retrofitting. Submissions were evaluated on structural design, structural analysis, material selection, livability, and sustainability.
Strong competition across universities:
MAHE Dubai’s student team competed against teams from leading institutions including University of Bolton, University of Wollongong, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and Umm Al Quwain University.
The awards were presented during the IStructE End-of-Year Celebration, where competitions sponsored by IStructE across the year were recognised.
