Manipal Institute of Liberal Arts (MILA), part of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wacom Europe GmbH, the EMEA representative of Wacom Company Ltd., to join the Wacom Education Program. The collaboration is designed to strengthen the integration of professional creative technology into higher education and support students preparing for careers in animation, media, design, and digital content.
Through this partnership, MILA will introduce Wacom’s digital pen tablet and display technology into its creative courses, giving students hands-on exposure to tools widely used across the creative industries. The collaboration will also support MILA’s journey towards achieving Wacom Certified School and Wacom Experience School status, recognising institutions that integrate professional tools, industry-standard software, and industry engagement into academic programmes.
The partnership will benefit students enrolled in MILA’s BSc Animation and BA in Media & Communication programmes by enhancing their practical skills in areas such as storyboarding, character design, graphic design, matte painting, digital illustration, and other creative production workflows. It reflects MAHE Dubai’s continued focus on industry-aligned learning and future-ready education.
The collaboration comes at a time when Dubai’s creative economy continues to expand, creating growing demand for digitally skilled designers, artists, animators, and creative technologists. By embedding professional-grade creative tools into the learning environment, MAHE Dubai aims to ensure that students graduate with both creative confidence and industry-relevant technical capabilities.
As part of the agreement, students will also gain access to Wacom Cintiq devices and supported pricing through a dedicated student purchase programme. The partnership further places MAHE Dubai within Wacom’s global network of educational institutions, creating opportunities for future initiatives that connect creative education with professional practice.
MAHE Dubai is licensed by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with programmes accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation, and is rated 5 Stars by KHDA. Through partnerships such as this, the university continues to strengthen its commitment to innovation, industry readiness, and creative talent development in the UAE.
