Dr. Arif Hussain is the Dean and Professor at the Manipal Institute of Health & Life Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai. An accomplished academic and researcher, his work spans life sciences, molecular medicine and biomedical research, with a particularly strong focus on cancer biology and cancer therapeutics.
His research interests include the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression, apoptosis, epigenetic regulation, drug resistance and the identification of potential therapeutic targets. His research has also explored how naturally derived bioactive compounds can influence oncogenic signalling and cellular behaviour, contributing to the growing scientific understanding of cancer prevention and treatment.
As Dean, Dr. Hussain advocates a research-driven approach to life sciences education that combines academic rigour with hands-on laboratory learning, interdisciplinary research and real-world applications.
