Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Dubai Campus has concluded a series of summer initiatives designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, strengthen international academic exposure and help school students explore future study pathways through practical, university-style experiences.
The initiatives included a four-week Summer Immersion Programme at INTI International University in Malaysia, participation in the National University of Singapore Young Fellowship Programme 2026, and the MAHE Dubai Summer Camp 2026 for Grade 11 and 12 students.
A group of 23 MAHE Dubai students participated in the four-week Summer Immersion Programme at INTI International University, Malaysia, accompanied by faculty mentor Dr. Subburaj Alagarsamy.
The programme combined academic workshops with cultural immersion, peer learning, industry-relevant sessions and site visits, enabling students to experience learning and professional practice within an international environment.
Sessions covered areas including business, communication, sustainability, digital entrepreneurship, strategic management, cultural diversity and global collaboration. By working alongside peers in Malaysia and engaging with different academic and cultural perspectives, students were able to apply classroom learning in a new context while strengthening communication, teamwork and intercultural skills.
The experience also contributed to MAHE Dubai’s wider focus on internationalisation by creating opportunities for students to engage directly with global academic communities.
MAHE Dubai also participated in the National University of Singapore Young Fellowship Programme 2026, with two students representing the university in a research-intensive international academic environment.
The fellowship exposed participants to lectures, workshops, research seminars, laboratory visits and collaborative activities focused on Artificial Intelligence, graduate research, emerging technologies and interdisciplinary innovation. The experience introduced students to the expectations of advanced academic research while allowing them to explore potential future pathways in higher education, research and emerging technology fields.
Together, the programmes in Malaysia and Singapore provided 25 MAHE Dubai students with meaningful international academic and research exposure during the summer.
These experiences also reflect the growing importance of outcome-based learning in higher education, demonstrating how international engagement, experiential learning and research exposure can contribute to tangible student development.
Learning becomes more meaningful when students are able to experience different academic environments, apply their knowledge in practical settings and engage with perspectives beyond their immediate classroom. Through international immersion, research exposure and early university engagement, we aim to help learners build confidence, curiosity and a broader understanding of the opportunities available to them. These initiatives reflect our commitment to creating an education experience that is globally connected, academically rigorous and responsive to the skills students will need in the future.
Alongside its international programmes, MAHE Dubai organised the MAHE Dubai Summer Camp 2026 for Grade 11 and 12 students.
The initiative received more than 900 registrations, reflecting strong interest among school students in experiencing university-style learning before making important higher education decisions.
Registration for the Summer Camp was free, supporting MAHE Dubai’s wider commitment to community engagement and making meaningful learning opportunities accessible to students beyond the university campus. The camp featured practical workshops and faculty-led sessions across Engineering and IT; Business, Commerce and Management; Health and Life Sciences; Design and Architecture; and Media and Liberal Arts.
Through hands-on activities, participants were able to explore different disciplines, understand how subjects are taught at university level and gain greater clarity about potential academic and career pathways.
Rather than relying only on course brochures or conventional programme information, students had the opportunity to interact directly with faculty, participate in academic activities and experience elements of university life first-hand.
For students preparing to make decisions about undergraduate education, such exposure can provide a clearer understanding of their interests and the kind of academic environment that may suit them.
The three summer initiatives represent different stages of MAHE Dubai’s approach to student engagement.
For current university students, the programmes in Malaysia and Singapore created opportunities for international learning, research exposure and cross-cultural collaboration. For Grade 11 and 12 students, the Summer Camp provided an early introduction to university academics and helped participants explore potential areas of study.
Together, these initiatives reinforce MAHE Dubai’s commitment to experiential learning, internationalisation and global academic collaboration.
By creating opportunities that allow students to experience learning beyond the traditional classroom, MAHE Dubai continues to focus on developing the knowledge, confidence, adaptability and global awareness required to navigate an increasingly interconnected and rapidly evolving world.
